If the longest side exceeds your target (default 2000 px) it scales down. If it's below the 1,600 px zoom threshold it scales up. Images already in the sweet spot are left at their native size.
Drawing an image through an HTML canvas element produces a clean pixel array with zero metadata. GPS coordinates, camera model, ISO, timestamps — all gone in the same pass as resizing.
14-iteration bisection finds the highest JPEG quality that stays under your MB cap. At 2000 px, this typically yields quality 85–95 % — visually lossless at Amazon's display sizes.
