eBay recommends 1600 px images so buyers can zoom — and gallery thumbnails display square. This free tool fits your full photo into a 1600 × 1600 square with a white or blurred fill — nothing gets cropped off, and nothing is uploaded to any server.
The eBay preset is already selected. Drop, click, download, list.
eBay is the one platform in this list where the pixel count unlocks a feature rather than just looking better. Images with a longest side of at least 1600 px get the zoom and enlarge functions on the listing page; below that, buyers cannot inspect the item closely. eBay's minimum is 500 px on the longest side, but sitting at the minimum means no zoom on an item people specifically want to examine before buying used.
The other half is eBay's picture policy, which is more restrictive than the fashion apps. The main image cannot carry borders, text, watermarks or added artwork — including the seller-added “SALE” and “FREE SHIPPING” banners people still paste on. Those get listings demoted or pulled. Gallery images after the first have more latitude.
Which creates a tension worth naming: this tool pads photos to square with a white or blurred fill. A plain white pad is not a border, artwork or watermark, so it sits inside the policy — but a blurred fill is more visually assertive, and on eBay specifically I would use white on the main image and save the blur for the gallery shots.
Square is not mandatory on eBay the way it is on Depop or Mercari; eBay displays a range of ratios. Square is simply the safest single format if the same photo is going to Mercari and Depop as well.
Straight off your phone is fine. Nothing is uploaded — it never leaves this tab.
eBay's preset is 1600×1600, which is what unlocks zoom and enlarge on the listing.
Use white on the main image. eBay's picture policy bans borders and added artwork there.
Zoom-eligible, policy-safe, and the same file still works on Mercari and Depop.
| Platform | Square size |
|---|---|
| Depop | 1280 × 1280 px |
| Poshmark | 1080 × 1080 px |
| Vinted | 1080 × 1080 px |
| Mercari | 1080 × 1080 px |
| eBay | 1600 × 1600 px |
| TikTok Shop | 1000 × 1000 px (min 600) |
| Etsy | 2000 × 2000 px |
1600 px on the longest side is what unlocks eBay's zoom and enlarge. Padding to 1600×1600 clears it without upscaling and softening the original.
eBay's picture policy bans borders, text and watermarks on the main image. A plain white pad is none of those — save the blurred fill for gallery shots.
Runs entirely in this browser tab. Nothing uploaded, no EXIF location data attached to the output.
eBay accepts a range of ratios, so square here is about cross-listing — the same file works on Mercari and Depop, which genuinely require it.
